Massage

Massage has been used for thousands of years. Natural Animal Wellness uses massage as a holistic approach to overall wellness affecting the skeletal, muscular, digestive, elimination, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, endocrine, emotional, mental and nervous systems.

Animal Massage

Massage manipulates the muscles and skin, providing increased circulation to the tissues and organs. When circulation is unstable it affects the energy balance, which can produce stagnation or excess. Either condition can cause disease.

When to massage?

Natural Animal Wellness recommends a massage if an animal experiences injury, illness, surgery, stress, stiffness, and muscle spasms; as well as prevention of future injuries and illnesses. A pre-event massage warms and loosens muscles. A post-event massage loosens muscles and joints, promoting recovery. Rehabilitation massage facilitates quicker healing. Maintenance (or preventative) massage balances for the overall wellness your animal deserves.

Who benefits from massage?

Aging, young, athletic, occupational, sedentary and convalescing animals will benefit from massage. It helps your animal enjoy more vibrancy, overcome modern-times stress, and obtain more pleasure from life.

Here are just a few massage benefits:

  • Releases natural endorphins to relieve pain
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Reduces swelling
  • Relaxes the mind, body and spirit
  • Strengthens tendons and ligaments
  • Speeds the healing process for soft tissue injuries
  • Improves social development
  • Stimulates blood circulation and the lymphatic system
  • Increases flexibility and range of motion
  • Releases toxins
  • Preventative maintenance

Sessions are provided in your home, stable, event, or any environment where your animal is most relaxed and receptive. During the session your animal may show “releases” by sneezing, coughing, sighing, yawning, gas, and licking their lips. After the session they may prefer to rest, or go about their day as usual. Regardless of their reaction, they may need to be given their own “space” to be comfortable. Allow them immediate access to relieve themselves outdoors as well as providing them access to plenty of fresh water.

Please note: Natural Animal Wellness requires a written veterinarian referral, for post surgery sessions.

Massage is a non-medical therapy and complements other holistic and traditional therapies. It is not a substitute for regular veterinary care. Natural Animal Wellness is not a veterinary practice and therefore does not diagnose medical issues, offer medical advice, prescribe drugs or perform surgery.
