Acupressure
Acupressure is an ancient Chinese technique based on the principles of acupuncture. It involves the use of finger pressure on the meridian system and specific points along the body. It is a means of accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy in the body.

Acupressure stimulates and activates the animals own energy to help fight illness and restore balance. Excesses and deficiencies are identified by observation and by following the meridians. Some acupressure points are significant as they relate to a particular part of the body while others are more general in their outcome.
How does acupressure work?
Acupressure removes energy blocks by diffusing toxic buildup that accumulates in the muscle tissue. Stiffness in muscles put abnormal pressure on blood and lymph vessels as well as nerves. Pressure on blood and lymph vessels affect the skeletal system and internal organ performance.
Animals are aware of their imbalances and often chew, lick, or scratch the acupressure points in an effort to rectify them. During a session, animals tend to participate by communicating their needs by often “pointing” with their noses to specific areas needing attention.
Here are just a few acupressure benefits:
- Boosts immune system
- Resolve digestive disorders
- Relieves allergies
- Improves mental focus
- Enhance performance
- Decreases trauma
- Increases blood supply
- Calms anxiety
- Releases endorphins to relieve pain
- Strengthens muscles, joints, bones and tendons
- Maintains wellness
Sessions are provided in your home, stable, event, or any environment where your animal is most relaxed and receptive. During the session your animal may show “releases” by sneezing, coughing, sighing, yawning, gas and licking their lips. After a session, they may want to stay quiet and rest. Others may go about their day as usual. Regardless of their reaction, they need to be given their own “space” to be comfortable. And, as always, plenty of fresh water should be provided. Complete energy flow changes can take up to 24 hours.
Acupressure is a non-medical therapy and complements other holistic and traditional therapies. It is not a substitute for regular veterinary care. Natural Animal Wellness is not a veterinary practice and therefore does not diagnose medical issues, offer medical advice, prescribe drugs or perform surgery.
